Phi Phi Islands comprise of six islands including;

Phi Phi Islands Must See: Maya Bay

Maya Bay is the famous, most stunning bay in the Phi Phi Islands. The bay is where ‘The Beach’ movie was filmed back in 1999. After it was released, Maya Bay has become one of the top world destinations. Even though the place is very touristy, it is still worth a visit.

Maya Bay is surrounded by high limestone cliffs of Koh Phi Phi Leh. Inside the gulf, there are several beaches, some of them only show up at low tide. The bay offers an amazing marine life and coral reef to explore.

Monkey Beach

From the name, you might have figured who inhabits the beach. There is a hidden cove of Ao Ling on this beach that is the home to a colony of monkeys in Phi Phi Don.

Due to the high number of tourists who visit Monkey Beach every year, the monkeys understand how to interact with human and patiently wait for food. The monkeys do not hesitate to climb onto your legs and search for bananas. Be careful because the monkeys can get very wild!

Monkey Beach is usually a short stop in the Phi Phi islands tour. If you have plenty of time on the beach, you can rent a kayak and explore the nature around.

Long Beach

Long Beach is Phi Phi Islands’ softest and whitest beach. This beach is located near Tonsai Village in Koh Phi Phi Don. To get here you can walk from the centre of Phi Phi Don. The path is rocky and involves a short jungle trail so don’t try it at night! An alternative is to take a five minute longtail boat ride from the centre of Phi Phi Don to Long Beach.

There are no sun loungers available in Long Beach so throw down a towel and lay down on the beach. There are some mini markets around where you can find your basic needs.

Looking out to the ocean you may notice  a big rock breaking the surface of the water. This rock is called Shark Point, a popular destination for spotting black-tip reef sharks. The snorkeling and diving here is amazing and therefore easy to see why Long Beach is one of the Phi Phi islands beach beaches.

Laem Tong Beach

Laem Tong Beach is located on the northern side of Phi Phi Don. It is a quiet and secluded beach. A perfect beach for those who are looking to chill out.

To get to Laem Tong Beach you’ll need to take a water-taxi or a longtail boat. It takes approximately two hours to get here from Tonsai Bay.

Your eyes will be indulged by the turquoise water and lush green forests like that found on Koh Lipe further south. The beach extends almost one kilometre. Within ten minutes of swimming from the coastline you can enjoy an incredible coral reef. If it’s not enough for you, go ahead and take a short trip to the other Phi Phi islands nearby like Mosquito Island, Bamboo Island and Hin Klang. There are plenty of great snorkelling spots out there too.

Loh Dalum Beach

Loh Dalum Beach is located in an enclosed area, near Tonsai Village, in Phi Phi Don. The water is warmer than the other beaches and very shallow, you can walk quite far, and it won’t get too deep. The waves are not very high due to the protected location from the ocean.

Many umbrellas and sunloungers fill the beach and only leave a few open spaces. Even though it may get very crowded in the peak period, Loh Dalum Beach offers a different view to the other beaches in the area and is stil worth a visit.

Bamboo Island

Bamboo Island or Koh Phai is a tiny island in the Andaman Sea. The island is located on the north side of Phi Phi Don. Take a longtail boat for sixty minutes from Tonsai to get here.

Bamboo Island is only four kilometers in length and one and a half kilometers in width. This remote island is nothing like the two large neighboring Phi Phi Islands; Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh. Here the whole island is covered by white sand and no high rocky peaks.

Due to its remoteness, there are no permanent facilities on the island. However, Bamboo Island offers a stunning beach with variety of water activities such as; diving, snorkelling and island hopping. Your Phi Phi Islands trip would not be complete without visiting this island!

Mosquito Island

Mosquito Island otherwsie called Koh Yung is another tiny island in Phi Phi Archipelago. Mosquito Island is located on the northernmost end of Phi Phi Islands. At only one kilometer long and 150 meters wide this is the smallest of the Phi Phi islands best beaches.

When the sun sets a legion of mosquitos will show up making it a bit uncomfortable for those who want to enjoy the evening here.

Mosquito Island is a diver’s and watersport enthusiast’s most favorite place. It is surrounded by beautiful snorkelling and diving spots. There is a three-headed pinnacle set at the northeastern tip of the island offering a spectacular diving experience with a variety of fish and black tip reef sharks to be seen.
