Splashdown Waterpark Pattaya the Wipeout Experience

We’re all familiar with the hit Japanese TV show Wipeout. Contestants run through a series of collision courses to be sent flying in all directions before crash diving into the water. That Wipeout experience is now available in Thailand at the Splashdown Waterpark Pattaya!

Pattaya is not generally  a place I frequently visit as a favorite destination in Asia. However Splashdown is a different type of attraction, and well worth the visit for a weekend trip out of Bangkok.

Unlike the big theme parks in Hua Hin such as Vana Nava and Black Mountain, the Splashdown Waterpark Pattaya is a smaller operation run by a Philippine family. Overall the small water park fits in in 7-10 different inflatable obstacles.

Splashdown Waterpark Pattaya Obstacle Course

Try out the 15m high water slide which ends with a 3m drop into the water below, or get flung up into the air on ‘The Blob’ a human catapult which is sure to give you a shock. Take on the Square Runner or Big Red Balls obstacle courses where you try to master your balance and speed in reaching the other end of the course without falling off, but most likely fail.

When the energy runs low jump into the water filled Zorb, sliding down the hill side like an out of control hamster in a ball. Or try out an fun version of football where teams of three to four people run around inside inflatable bubbles on a slippery wet course.

The obstacle course changes in set up from time to time, so the experience may vary from my own. Nevertheless the day is guaranteed to be fun, as long as you are prepared to wipeout and get wet. At the end of the day you’re pretty sure to be aching just about all over and spent on energy, so don’t be planning a huge night out to follow.

Food at Splashdown Waterpark is basic and relatively cheap. Spend 150thb for a set of chicken nuggets and fries, 20 thb for a can of soft drink, and 80thb for a cold bottle of beer to end the day. There is no selection of Thai food here, only basic snacks so you may want to reserve the proper meal for before or after the day at Splashdown.
